After decades of relentlessly pursuing workplace efficiency, businesses are beginning to realize they need to rethink their approach if they want to develop and retain an effective workforce. “Big companies, in the march toward using space efficiently over the last 20 years, have shrunk the size of the cubicle and the amount of space each individual has—inch by inch, foot by foot,” notes Benjamin Pring, vice president and director of Cognizant’s Center for the Future of Work.
